4 Paint Plan Parlez (PPP) Mtg

Next PPP Meeting is Saturday 4 February 2012 at 10h00

Plan Paint Parlez Meetings are held on the first Saturday of every alternate month - please see Calendar for relevant dates.

Cost is $5 which goes towards venue hire & refreshments.

Whilst we do follow a meeting agenda, discussion is informal … done over tea & cake while we’re painting !  Afterwards we catch up over lunch (please bring your own) followed by an hour or two of more painting, swopping tips and ideas and browsing the library.

A “Show & Tell” table is set up for members to display recently completed projects and perhaps share a special technique they may have used in their project to inspire the rest of us.

A “Trash & Treasure” table provides opportunity for members to “cull” any old books, wooden blanks etc. and perhaps earn some pocket money in the process.

And just for fun,  a lucky door prize is drawn to bring an unexpected smile to someone’s face J.

At the General Meeting in December 2007, members brought along painted Christmas Ornaments for the Painting Challenge competition. They were all quite different, however the one which appealed to the judge the most was Vi Bowman’s candy cane ornament (see photo below). This competition was devised by Penny Morgan to encourage members to come along to the meetings and join in the spirit of participation. The winner is not necessarily the best painted but whatever item appeals most to the “secret” judge on the day - be it the cutest, strangest, craziest or whatever. Painting Challenge entries December

Following our Annual General Meeting on 4th August 2007, we were pleased to be able to welcome Emmy Stokvis who is here visiting her family from Holland. Emmy is a very talented artist who paints in the traditional style, having studied many years ago with Jacques Zuidema. Over the years she developed her own style and we were enthralled with her stories of painting and teaching in Holland as well as her travels teaching in Japan and Korea. Emmy has promised to return here next year (perhaps for our Paint-in) and there will be no shortage of members wanting to attend one of her workshops. You can view Emmy’s work on her website www.emmystokvis.nl The photos below show Emmy receiving a floral thankyou from Vi Bowman and a close up of one of 6 cushion covers she painted for her sister Anka. POST NOTE:  Comment from Glenniese Callaghan on 20 Aug 2007 was …  Carole, you have done a fantastic job setting up this new website for the DFAQ - congratulations and thanks. Thanks also for communicating with Emmy so she was able to join us at our last meeting. It was so interesting listening to her and meeting her and her husband and her sister and her husband was a joy.
