JOHN BOSTOCK MEMORIAL CHALLENGE
The 2009 John Bostock Memorial Challenge winner, chosen by his wife Rita, was Penny Morgan who painted a beautiful Santa plaque
Those of us who live in and around Brisbane know John and Rita Bostok well. John cut wood for our members for many years. He was generous and giving to the DFAQ. He cut our badges for our Christmas luncheons and supplied cutouts for our Brush in a Rush days.
John lost his battle with illness this year and we miss him very much. The committee decided we would like to do something to honour John’s dedication to the folk art community. In discussion with his wife Rita it was decided to have a challenge each Christmas. Rita was invited to our Christmas luncheon and asked to judge this painting competition. The large number of entries were of a very high standard, and Rita finally chose a beautiful piece painted by Lindy Clarkson as the 2008 winner.
