As from the 5th September, 2009 we are moving our meetings and Brush in a Rush days to The Mt Gravatt Show Grounds, 1644 Logan Road, Mt Gravatt. We are now close to bus’s and have easy access to the freeway and gateway. Street directory map 201 E4.
The D.F.A.Q. meets on the first Saturday of every alternate month at The Mount Gravatt Show Grounds 1644 Logan Road, Mt Gravatt. Our next Meeting - Paint, Plan and Parlez ( PPP ) Day - is to be held on Saturday 2nd October, 2010. The managment meeting starts at 9am, and the general meeting starts at 11am. On the first Saturday of the alternate month is a Brush in a Rush Day - next workshop is 4th September, 2010. Our annual Paint In Convention is to be held at the Central Bardon Conference Centre in Brisbane http://www.centralvenues.com.au/central-venues-conference/bardon/index.htm. We have a racing theme for this year and will hold a “Fashions on the field” competition for Saturday nights dinner. The following gives all information and the workshops available for the Convention. Late entries will be accepted, subject to class availability, up till the 1st June, 2010. Our annual Christmas Lunch was held at 433 Logan Road. Spotlight, Mt Gravatt very generously donated an Elna Sewing machine to give away at the function. Jean Peterson was the lucky lady and was estatic at her good fortune. The annual John Bostock Memorial Challenge winner, chosen by his wife Rita, was Penny Morgan who painted a beautiful Santa plaque.

Our annual Paint In Convention for 2009 held at the beautiful Crown Plaza Resort, Pelican Waters on the Sunshine Coast was a huge success. Delegates came from all parts of Australia and everyone entered into the spirit of the “Paint by the Sea” theme. Old friendships were renewed and new ones cultivated. The night time activities of hilarious laughs, wonderful exchange gifts, raffle winners are just a few of the weekend’s frivolity that took place.
Venue:- Exhibition Centre, Broadbeach, Gold Coast
Time:- 10 am - 5 pm
An exciting new event for the D.F.A.Q. and working together with the F.D.A.A. to promote Decorative Art.
Each day there will be a large canvas ( 2.1 x 3 metre) for the public to paint on for a small fee of a gold coin donation and there will also be a book for them to sign. This will then be presented to Ronald McDonald charities. Our members will man the stand each day and assist the public with painting the piece.
Our annual Convention was held at the beautiful Crown Plaze Resort, Pelican Waters on the Sunshine Coast. Attendees came from as far away as New Zealand, Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and far north Queensland. It was a great weekend and this year an art exhibition organised by Vicki Mullins, an award winning artist from Brisbane, was held in conjunction with the Convention. The very successful exhibition had 400 entries by 70 artists and offered an avenue for our members to display and sell their work. A silent auction was held with donations from several famous painters with proceeds going to Kids With Cancer. Keeping with the “Jungle Fever” theme a lot of effort went into costumes.
